Early part of his career has worked with Monsanto and handled pan India responsibilities for the Cotton and Vegetable Businesses. As a Product Manager was responsible for the P&L, Marketing, product pipeline and launches, distribution strategy, trade schemes and the end customer acquisition (farmer).
Also handled pan India P&L responsibilities for other MNCs like J&J and Medtronic.
After that spent more than a decade working in startups. Handled multiple roles like Global Marketing Head for a social enterprise; was the first CXO for CropIn where he built the sales (India and International), BD and marketing functions; was CEO of DestaGlobal and pivoted the company into an online marketplace for agriculture inputs.
In 2020 founded Helicrofter, an e-commerce for agriculture inputs and within a year clocked ARR of $7Mn GMV. Raised a round from Axilor. The business model was both B2B and B2B2C, wherein agri inputs were being purchased online by retailers but the tech enabled the retailers to set up their own e-commerce and sell to farmers in the nearby villages. Helicrofter was acquired by DeHaat.
The entire Helicrofter team became a part of DeHaat. In his new role was leading company’s expansion in new geographies, the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Chattisgarh. Additionally handled two new states, Rajasthan and MP. Also, was instrumental in building best practices for e-commerce like managing Working Capital, optimal Inventory and running the business on ‘cash and carry’ instead of credit. Also, working on several initiatives like hyperlocal delivery model, B2B2C, etc.
Is a PGP from IIM-A 2003-05 batch and a B.E. (Marine Engineering). Before his Business School, he spent 4 years on the ships working in a cross-cultural environment that was physically and mentally demanding.
He loves writing - is a published author of fiction novel, ‘Eagle Spotted Message Decoded’ and now dabbles with poetry too.
